Exhibition opening – STADTSCHAUM

EXHIBITION ” STADTSCHAUM: Urban crisis – generator of the informal city?  Case study : Berlin, Istanbul, Mumbai.”

The STADTSCHAUM project explores informal and improvised practices and spaces in the cities of Berlin, Istanbul and Mumbai and researches their relation to economic, ecological, social and cultural urban crisis- situations, often provoked by fast-forward urban transformation processes. The cities‘ informal and improvised practices and spaces are thereby not seen as a threat, a danger or a problem, but understood as an integral part of the city. The STADTSCHAUM exhibition deals with the question of the role and potential of the citys‘ informal and improvised aspects for its permanent process of the production of urban space.
